SAVE ON YOUR ELECTRIC BILLS, AND EARN INCOME FOR THE CHURCH
The Church, with Church Council approval, has become an “Associate” of Viridian, our electric power supplier. Associate status, under a special program for non-profits like churches, permits us to receive continuing monthly income of $2.00 for each congregation member in Connecticut who elects to designate Viridian as his or her own residential electric power supplier. The Church will receive monthly payments by direct deposit when customers pay their electric bills.
Viridian is one of the least expensive alternative suppliers of energy available, and offers either 20% of its electricity from “green” renewable sources, or, for a slightly higher rate, will provide 100% from renewable sources. This mutually-beneficial marketing set-up will both lower our costs for electricity at Church and home, and earn the Church a continuing income stream.
CL&P continues to provide electrical service and billing, but buys electricity from the supplier we designate (Viridian in our case), and simply passes the cost through to the customer. After sign-up with a new supplier like Viridian, only the supplier’s name, and the lower cost per kilowatt hour, will show as changes on your CL&P bill. There are no extra costs for changing to Viridian, or to most other alternate suppliers. A listing of alternate electrical power suppliers, their rates, and estimated monthly savings with each can be found on the Internet at the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund website, www.ctenergyinfo.com/display_rates.htm.
