First Church to offer Multi-Generational Family Worship Service This Sunday!

This Sunday, congregants of all ages will be helping to lead us in our first Family Worship service of this program year.
**Children in 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade will be leading portions of worship.  If you are a parent of children in these grades, please reply to this email if your child can participate and arrive to the Sanctuary on Sunday no later than 9:45am to rehearse their part in the service.  Click here for 1st grade 'script' or here for 3rd/4th grade 'script'.

There will be no Sunday School for ages 4 and higher, but coloring books and quiet games will be available in the Narthex.  Nursery care is available for children through 3 years old.

There will be a
New Member Inquiry class after church this in Griswold Hall for those who are considering joining First Church.  Please reply to this email if you plan on attending and/or if you will need childcare.  Light refreshments will be served.

Our monthly spiritual practice activities are creative ways to connect to God, and can help with the hectic day to day stress of schedules and dominance of technology. May these 'practices' bring balance, as you and your family cultivate new ways to engage with God and each other.

One way we can use our breath to focus and pay attention to God is simply through deep breathing to calm and center ourselves when we’re feeling anxious. Another way is through use of a Breath Prayer, which is simply repetition of a short prayer phrase timed with one’s breathing. Typically, the prayer is made up of a favorite name for God, along with a short phrase stating what we’re seeking from God. The classic breath prayer is some form of “God, have mercy on me.” This is a great form of prayer to teach children and teens to use because it’s short and simple and can be done anywhere.
