THIS SUNDAY - DECEMBER 9TH
This Sunday, after dismissing to Sunday School, our children will continue their ADVENT/CHRISTMAS lessons while we focus on Peace, Love, Joy, and Hope...this Sunday, we will focus on love and make sandwiches and Christmas cards for those at Community Dining Room in Branford, as well as continue to make decorations for our Sanctuary Christmas Tree. As always, nursery care is provided for children through 3 years old. **If any families would like to deliver our sandwiches/cards this Sunday after church to Community Dining Room, please reply to this email.
In the Sanctuary, we will have a service of Lessons and Carols as we prepare for the coming of the Christ child. Childcare is provided in the Nursery.
In Fellowship Hall, our youth ministry (Pilgrim Fellowship), will be hosting a Soup and Bread Supper. $4 for 12 yrs and under; $8 for 13 yrs and older; $8 for container of soup.
DECEMBER SPIRITUAL PRACTICE
Our monthly spiritual practice activities are creative ways to connect to God, and can help with the hectic day to day stress of schedules and dominance of technology. May these 'practices' bring balance, as you and your family cultivate new ways to engage with God and each other.
...means 'the coming', more specifically, the coming of the Christ Child. Jesus brings a new understanding of God, a different one than what was known at a time in history when many saw God's main qualities as rigid, judgmental, and vengeful. Jesus embodies the truest quality of God, LOVE. How refreshing it must have been for the people of old to see God in a new way...the ways of love, peace, joy and hope.
This Sunday, we will hear about 'love'. What are some practical ways we can show love to God, our neighbors, and even ourselves?
Confirmation 1 and 2 Christmas Party: THIS Monday, 12/10, 6:30pm in Fellowship Hall, for all confirmands, their parents and mentors. Please bring a $5 wrapped grab bag, winter socks to be donated to our Prison Ministry, and your favorite Christmas treat...the church will provide dinner!
YOUTH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
If you are looking for volunteer hours as a confirmand, PF member, or simply a teen looking to serve, plug yourself in and serve within your church community, once or on a monthly basis: as a Sunday School assistant, usher, Nursery helper, etc. Let us know how you'd like to live out your faith!
