Confirmation is a two-year program which encourages our 9th/10th graders to explore questions of faith, learn more about the Christian tradition and experience healthy mentoring relationships with adults in our congregation. This program leads our youth to an individual’s decision to affirm (or not affirm) the vows made by his/her parents at baptism and to join this community of faith.  In other words, do they want to continue walk on the Christian path following God through Jesus’ teaching and way of life?  This is the primary question that is asked in confirmation.  None of us has all of the answers, but taking this time of discernment to ultimately confirm one’s baptism, and affirm one’s faith is the final destination of this two year journey, with the understanding that the Christian journey is ongoing, and questions will continue to be asked!

The program is carefully designed to be substantive and meaningful while respecting the very busy lives of our active youth. Classes are held approximately once a month throughout the school year, and offer our teens a safe place to discuss questions of faith, while building relationships with God, with each other, and with our larger faith community. This pivotal time in their spiritual growth offers retreats, times of quiet meditation and prayer, and various forms of art throughout their learning experience.
