ADVENT IS HERE!
While these times are quite different than most years, we prepare for the birth of Jesus in creative and wonderful ways!
We celebrated the First Sunday of Advent on November 29, lighting the Candle of Hope. Hope eternal, hope fulfilled, and hope right now. Click here to watch the service and candle lighting.
We are so accustomed to the traditions in our Guilford Community this time of year. This year let us be community in spirit and safety, enjoying what is available at this festive time of year.
This Saturday, December 5th, in lieu of the Annual Santa Breakfast, Pilgrim Fellowship will host a Santa Sighting Drive-By between 9-11 am. Santa will be in front of the church, that’s Broad Street, to wave HELLO and HO, HO, HO and is accepting letters to Santa collected right from your car from Santa’s elves! Be sure to put your return address on the note, maybe Santa will write back.
PF is hopeful to have the Annual Soup and Bread Supper in February for Superbowl Sunday as a take out event. Save up your soup and bread appetite!! We will keep you posted!
The Christian Education Committee is creating a Virtual Christmas Pageant in the coming weeks. Let Judi know if you’d like to participate from home. Video recording will happen from your own home on zoom on December 12th! The Pageant will be shown on video for the emailed worship and on the big screen at RSVP in-person worship on the 20th.
On Christmas Eve, we are planning 3 worship services at 5:00 pm, 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm with pre-registration required (see above in the Steeple for links).
Traditionally, the 5:00 Christmas Eve service is a more family focused worship. If you and your family plan to join us at 5:00, we invite you to where a costume or bring a prop from the Nativity so we can create a ‘living nativity’ in the Memorial Garden after worship! We invite even those who choose to not attend worship to gather with luminaries after the 5 pm service outside.
Advent blessings surround us and we hope you will tune in online or register to come in person, weather temperature permitting, for each Sunday of Advent celebrating HOPE, LOVE, JOY, and PEACE with the lighting of candles and worship.
You can also participate in the REVERSE Advent Calendar activity, where each day of December is marked by adding a non-perishable food item to a bag or box and bringing the food to church on Christmas Eve. All food collected will be donated to the Guilford Food Bank. The bags remain available in the Narthex or by email request.
Wishing you all Advent blessings in new ways,
