These are odd days and odd requests for a church community! Whoever you are and wherever you are on life journey we now are mindful of COVID 19. To care for our community we have in place a COVID Response Team. They are seeking those who wish to help with church procedures for in person gatherings. Please contact Drew Tucci who is the chair of the team if interested in participating. We need assistance with taking temperatures, directing traffic flow, and monitoring our sanitization. Here is more information on the team:
First Church COVID Response Team:
The pandemic has forced sudden changes in the way many Church activities take place. The Grace of God and heroic efforts by many church leaders have allowed First Church to thrive. Nonetheless, in some areas, the current workload is unsustainable. We want to ensure that First Church supports all of our church family during these days.
Therefore, to provide ministry for all our church family, First Congregational Church of Guilford, CT hereby establishes a COVID Response Team whose purpose is to support the church leadership, congregants, and wider Guilford community in addressing the challenges brought on by the ongoing COVID pandemic. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- COVID Response Team members will assist church leadership in outreach and ministry to congregants, particularly those that may be especially impacted by COVID. This may be done in cooperation with Deaconess/Visitors, Deacons, and other committees.
- COVID Response Team members will assist church leadership in implementing a transition to in-person worship, as permitted by local, state, and UCC advice. This includes appropriate physical distancing and related procedures to promote health and safety practices. Temperature checks, seating restrictions, and careful management of how congregants enter and leave the sanctuary will be required.
- COVID Response Team members will support the church in ministry to the Guilford community impacted by COVID.
Useful skills for COVID Response Team members: The team needs individuals with compassionate communications skills to reach out to individual members and families, and to manage the logistics of restricted in-person services. To conduct basic medical screenings, and to better understand and interpret public health guidance, the COVID Response Team is also looking for people with a background in health or a high comfort level with COVID related science.
The COVID Response Team will revise and revisit its basic responsibilities as needed.
