Photography as a Lenten Spiritual Practice

The camera didn't capture it but the clock face in the sunlight was bright gold. Then searching for the perfect image with no telephone wires I took this third photograph. What a blue sky!

Photography as a Lenten Spiritual Practice: Today, we we begin Lent, one of our members, Carl Frano, leads us on a virtual photography journey. Photography is a Spiritual Practice for many of our members! Carl is also the host of a weekly radio show, The Carl J Frano Show on WPKN, which you can listen to by clicking here. Here is Carl's Lenten Guilford Photo Journey:

On Friday February 5th it was another quarantine day and I just needed to get out of my house. It was a mid-winters' afternoon and there was still snow on the ground as I drove to Chaffinch Island Park in Guilford. This place is a beautiful treasure in our town. Walked to the waters edge and back. On my way back toward town I felt drawn to walk around our town green. Starting at the south/center entrance between Whitfield Street and Park Street I walked directly north. Our beautiful church building came into full view. Looking for the perfect image I moved closer. I then angled toward the library and took this first image:

Going to the corner of Broad St. and Park St. I captured this next image:

These views of our church building may be like a million others but at that moment I was filled with spirit. Even though we as a congregation are not able to fully participate in service like it was pre-covid our church building stands like a beacon in the center of our town and it gave me hope that day. Attending this church and becoming a member for nearly nine years has been one of my life's greatest joys. I believe we will ALL be together once again in fellowship in this building. I can't wait to see everyone together.
