“Please prepare for landing!”
I knew that this would happen. My three months with you would come to an end, and that end is rapidly approaching. It’s been a vital three months, filled with energetic worship, sprucing up and blooming of the vegetation around the church, and boards and committees hard at work reluctant to break for the summer. I thank you for welcoming me in your midst and for allowing me to walk with you, in faith, for this short amount of time.
It is now time to prepare for landing, that is, Ginger’s return to First Church and resume her Pastoral duties. I know you will be excited to see her and hear about her Sabbatical. I’m sure that she will be excited to share with you the things she has discovered, the dreams for the Church, and her vision going forward in this exciting time of re-gathering.
In an effort to gently ease Ginger’s return from her Sabbatical we are looking at ways to bring her up to date but not deluge her with information all at once. She will have been gone for three months, that’s a lot of time for things to happen within a congregation. Rest assured that I will be meeting with her to transfer all information and pastoral concerns that has been brought to my attention, and that of the entire ministry team.
I want to remind you that since Sunday, July 4 we have entered into our summer schedule. Worship begins at 9:00 AM. Come for reflection and praise and sit in our beautiful, open sanctuary. It is warm, so dress in your summer garb and relax. Sunday, July 11 we have a guest preacher lined up. Kristie Rubendunst will be joining us, and while Ginger will be here, she won’t have to preach on her first Sunday back.
And don’t forget that we are no longer asking that you make a reservation to attend worship. Yay! A step towards pre-pandemic worship. You’ll notice some other small changes however the overall direction for Covid protocol will be addressed by Ginger in collaboration with the Covid Team.
Peace be to you and God’s speed,
