Testimony for 2021: Stewardship Hope

This year has brought severe challenges that have tested our resolve to lean into God who is guiding our path. Covid 19 has cracked open deep needs in our church family and our wider community, and First Church has worked hard to continue to be the welcoming presence of God’s grace and love...even at a distance.

Dear First Church Members and Friends,

“Lean not into just our own understanding, but in all our ways acknowledge God who will guide our paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

This year has brought severe challenges that have tested our resolve to lean into God who is guiding our path. Covid 19 has cracked open deep needs in our church family and our wider community, and First Church has worked hard to continue to be the welcoming presence of God’s grace and love--even at a distance. The myriad of creative and decisive ways our ministers, staff and volunteers have kept in touch with the needs of the community has been astounding. And while we can’t be certain about lies ahead, we do know that the needs and challenges will continue.

This year’s Stewardship campaign looks to the promise of Proverbs 3:5-6 that God will guide our path. As we all consider our pledge for 2021, we are also reminded that when “you make a pledge, you are participating in a spiritual practice—like prayer—that focuses your intention on giving and gratitude.”

This year our stewardship goal remains the same as last year, $600,000. Letting us know what you will give in the coming year is critical as it allows First Church to plan, budget and anticipate the needs of our community.

Click here for our online pledge card with information about online giving. For our members, a pledge card is also on its way in the mail with a return envelope. You may mail it, drop it off at the office in Spencer House, or put it in the offering basket during an in-person service. If you pledge online, no need to also return the paper card.

As you prayerfully consider your pledge this year, please know that we receive it with gratefulness.

Sincerely,

The Stewardship Committee
Preston Maynard & Linda Weber (Co-Chairs), Cindy Caligan, Carrie Federici, Louis Federici, Dick Harter, Barbara Johnson.
