We Missed You!

Not only did we miss seeing you in person during this--dare I write it--“unprecedented year,” but we missed you. The Parish Care and Ministry Teams and I know there were major life events of joy and sorrow that happened in our beloved congregation this year and we missed them. I am sorry for all those moments that missed.

Some of you were in the hospital and we couldn’t visit. Some of you experienced a death in the family or once again faced the death of a friend and we couldn’t visit. In the midst of the pandemic and our country awakening from the collective slumber of our embedded systems of injustice, we had no place to safely gather to hold the pain and work for justice. In moments here or there--bells rung, signs held, care from a distance--we tried to find each other.

Many sent cards and our deacons called our church members. Most of us had nightmares and day ones, too. We tossed and turned with ideas and protocols and we missed you! Now, as we dance at the edge of open tomb, we swirl with hope. Vaccines are here, awareness is spreading, and the plight of the human journey can change course.

In the power of the resurrected Christ, may we pause to hear what we missed and see each other again at summer’s end and fall’s welcome. As we hang in a bit longer, with a hope-filled and prayerful heart, may we reconnect more in September!

Peace,
Ginger
